About ME

Luis Da Silva

Greetings!

Welcome to my website, and thank you sincerely for taking the time to explore it. Your visit means a lot to me, and I hope it won’t disappoint!

Ever since I was a child, I’ve had an insatiable passion for capturing moments. At the tender age of 8, I was already experimenting with my father’s film camera, eagerly snapping shots of anything that caught my eye.

Over the years, cameras have evolved tremendously, and I’ve owned quite a few throughout my life. However, it was in 2010, when I purchased my very first DSLR, a Canon 600D, that I truly became serious about photography. Equipped with a couple of kit lenses, I embarked on a journey to explore landscapes, macro shots, and night cityscapes, often accompanied by my brother Marcio and my dear friend Simon.

Although I never shared these early photos with the world, as I constantly doubted their quality, I devoted years to honing my camera skills. Eventually, I made the leap to a full-frame camera, purchasing a second-hand Canon 5D mk 2 along with a versatile 24-105mm Canon L lens. This kit became my absolute favorite, until it unfortunately started malfunctioning.

In 2021, amidst the global pandemic and the endless days spent indoors, I discovered a newfound love for wildlife photography. As soon as restrictions eased, I sought solace in my local park, embarking on rejuvenating walks that greatly improved my mental well-being. It was during these outings that I stumbled upon the enchanting world of birds and other captivating wildlife right at my doorstep.

One fine afternoon, armed with my trusty camera and my only functioning telephoto lens, the Canon 70-300mm USM lens, I captured a few shots of the wildlife that had captured my heart. In that instant, I fell head over heels for wildlife photography, immersing myself in the study of bird species, their unique behaviors, and the ability to identify each bird by its call. The few decent shots I managed to capture in late 2021 inspired me to create an Instagram account, where I could share my photos and receive valuable feedback to further enhance my skills.

Despite being a full-time facilities manager for a client in the vibrant heart of London’s West End, photography remains my beloved hobby, reserved mainly for weekends. However, I dream of turning this passion into a full-time career, and I’m excited to see what 2023 holds in store for me.

Once again, thank you for visiting my website, and I hope you enjoy the visual journey I’ve embarked on through my lens.
